Adenium ObesumAdenium Obesum Adenium Obesum is the most common of the adenium species. They have been bred since the 1980s and there are thousands of named cultivars in virtually every colour you can think of. The Obesum cultivars have the largest flowers sometimes up to 4” in diameter and they are also the easiest to get to flower. They can be evergreen given the ideal growing conditions but any sign of cold or drought will send the plant into a deep dormancy where the leaves will fall and growth will stop. Dormant plants can take a long time to recover and usually, flowering suffers as a result. Obesum are very prone to rot away and any sign of frost or damp compost during dormancy, can signal the onset of rot. Obesum as all Adeniums are very easy to grow from seed although some varieties do not come true from the seed they do take on a lot of the parent plants characteristics and traits. Although there are many colours of Obesum, and many double, triple and even quadruple flowers as of yet there are no green, blue or orange flowers, so look at these photos on Ebay very carefully as a lot of them have had photo editing done to them. Only buy seeds from a trusted supplier !!! The Golden Rules Of Growing Adeniums Water and fertilize adeniums generously during the warm summer growing season. Keep them drier at other times and very dry if they are to be kept in cool conditions during the winter. If you follow these simple basic cultural rules anyone can grow adeniums anywhere.
