Adenium are a group of plants native to parts of Africa and Arabia that are becoming more popular and well known as years pass, they are also known as Desert Roses or in parts of Africa Sabi Star and come from the same family as the Plumeria.
They are easy to care for and plants can be attractive to view even when not in flower as they form interesting stems (known as a caudex) and gnarled root systems which also make them ideal for using as bonsai. There are several species of Adenium with Adenium obesum and Adenium arabicum being the most commonly found for sale.
Adenium obesum have been bred for the last 20 years or so and many hundreds of hybrids are now available for sale with more being released each season. Adenium obesum come in many different colours and there are even double and triple flowering varieties with almost every colour available except blue and orange.
Adenium are very easy to care for and with the right aftercare they can flower for many months each year putting on magnificent floral displays during the spring and summer.
